This event will take place from 22 – 29 August 2015 at thePoint4, the international standard facilities of RNC (Royal National College for the Blind). Ten teams will compete to become Champions of Europe. The additional excitement surrounding this event is that only the top two teams will secure a place to compete in the Paralympics in Rio – so there is everything to play for.

Jon Pugh, the Head Coach of the England Team, is a Hereford man. Jon has worked as Assistant Coach for many years, taking over as Head Coach in February 2014. He has not lost a match since and was recently named the FA’s Disability Coach of the Year.  Jon’s team include several players who competed in the Paralympics 2012 and they are increasingly being regarded as a team to watch.

Teams taking part are from England, Germany, Russia, Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Poland and Greece. This is the biggest Euros to date. The teams will stay on campus, in an athletes’ village environment. Volunteers drawn from the local Community and beyond will support the teams, the activities and the spectators

The all weather pitch will be surrounded by stands seating 700+ spectators, and the entry/exit point will take the form of a spectator “street village” with catering, entertainment and Have  A Go opportunities, making this a real family event.  There are 4 or 5 matches each day, and if the pattern of 2010 is repeated, we anticipate that over 9,000 people will view the matches. Children from local primary schools are taking part in a legacy programme and some of them will be our mascots and flag bearers on the opening day.

More information is available and tickets are on sale at www.rnc.ac.uk/blindeuros/

We need over 100 volunteers (or stewards) for this event. If you are over 16 on 20 August and want to get involved please e mail for an application pack to  blindeuros@rnc.ac.uk.
